I don't know if it is safe to install Mint fully on my hard drive in order to do a proper test about the tablet driver, as I don't know if I would be able to use the usb Windows 8.1 restore key, if I find things don't work. I found out that mspaint runs with pressure sensitivity if I mirror the monitors, but it must be reading the tablet driver from Windows. Struggle with anything beyond basic at this time, but, before learning of the issues about updates/chips/mainstream support ending, I'd really loved Mint Cinnamon's 64-bit live-try boot, and it would be great to be able to run it. I would be more than grateful to have another choice, and one that is stable for art and basic use. I can't find links to buy Win8.1 extended support, and don't want to do that, with disagreeing so much with Microsoft's behaviour, it would be an absolutely last resort, if I couldn't follow the no doubt very helpful instructions here.

Worried how I could even run Windows 8.1 beyond January safely, except turning the internet off except when eg ordering groceries. Ill health and rely on pc for groceries/banking/bills, and for art. Lack of privacy/choice is being forced both in software and hardware. I'm also seeing that new pc chips won't support Windows 8.1 any more, and 2 chips won't receive windows updates earlier than January. I've just discovered that Windows 8.1 mainstream support is ending next January. Hello and thank you for the opportunity to post.
